A FAMILY FAVOURITE

SMALL YET MIGHTY

The owners of this property wanted to transform a small, unused space into a low maintenance entertainer’s paradise. This 6m x 4m wedge-shaped pool, custom-designed and built by Albatross Pools, complements the property’s unique block shape, and provides a fantastic entertaining area that family and friends can enjoy year-round.

Albatross Pools worked closely with the builder that conducted the property’s renovations to design and build a multilevel paved area, which maximises the backyard’s space and creates a point of difference. The surrounding area of the pool complements both the colour and angular design of the swimming pool. A vertical timber screen and succulent planters complement the crisp angular lines of the pool and create a truly striking visual. Complete with a shade sail and banana lounge chairs, the entire area is a perfect retreat for the family to unwind during Melbourne’s warmer months.

The homeowners wanted a pool that needed very little maintenance, and Albatross Pools achieved this by using a range of high-quality products. The energy-effcient AstralPool Viron pump is ideal for smaller pools, and provides a powerful vacuum for easy maintenance. The fresh water ionic sanitation system unleashes copper and silver into the water, which effectively kills bacteria and stops algae from growing.

The pool features solar and gas heating, as well as LED multi-colour lighting, which gives the entire area a magical, irridescent glow.

Albatross Pools was founded in 1969, and has quickly evolved into one of Australia’s leading innovators in pool design and construction. Specialising in pre-engineered in-ground steel pools, the company can offer its clients a vast range of design possibilities for projects with diffcult site conditions, including sloping blocks and hard to reach areas. Albatross Pools has been family-owned for more than 45 years and has a wealth of experience in the industry, yet continues to keep up-to-date with the latest designs and trends.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

TAKING YOU FROM LAPPING TO LEISURE

All too often in pool design, compromises have to be made. Function over aesthetics; family fun in place of fitness. This impressive pool, however, ticks all the boxes, making no sacrifices on style or functionality.

The homeowners envisaged a pool where they could exercise uninterrupted, while the kids splashed and played in the pool. The smart, multipurpose design features a 20-metre lap lane with an out-of-the-way family fun zone with varying depths to cater for children of all ages.

The pool blends into its bushland surroundings, incorporating natural materials including timber decking and upright posts, as well as unobtrusive frameless glass fencing. Large bluestone tiles complement the earthy tones of the newly-built home.

As the pool was part of a much bigger project and the homeowners were conscious of spending in both the short and long term, all features were cleverly chosen to ensure upfront and running costs are manageable. The pool can be heated year-round without costing a fortune, with the filtration equipment, Remco Swimroll pool cover and heating system all offset by the home’s PV Solar Panels.

Since its humble beginnings in 1969, with a display pool in the backyard of the Van Der Haar family home in Melbourne, the company has evolved into one of Australia’s leading innovators and builders of pre-engineered, in-ground steel pools.

The company’s innovative method of pool building and its ability to offer clients an almost limitless range of design possibilities that are quick to build and require minimal maintenance, has taken the US and European markets by storm.

Despite being family-owned for more than 45 years, Albatross Pools continues to rejuvenate itself and keep up to date with the latest design and landscape trends.

See for yourself why this company remains at the top of its game by visiting one of the long-established yet modern display centres at Warrandyte or Dandenong. Both centres are open seven days and are operated by fully-trained staff who will assist in guiding you through your pool planning.
