Project 1

The owners of this terrace home wanted a pool and spa that would be both aesthetically pleasing and relaxing, while taking advantage of the rear lane access, especially since the home is within walking distance of the local beach.

Designed by Laidlaw & Laidlaw Design, the pool runs along the rear boundary of the property, allowing space for a grassed area between the rear of the house and pool.

The 8.5m x 3.6m concrete pool is fully-tiled with deep blue ceramic tiles, which give the pool a stunning presence against its organic surroundings. The interior is also enhanced at night by Spa Electrics LED underwater lighting.

Feature timber fencing cleverly hides the pool equipment and provides a gate for easy access to the beach. An outdoor shower is ideally placed to wash the sand off after returning from the beach, while bluestone paving and coping complements the subtlety of the natural timber fencing.

Perfectly blending form and function, the relaxed ambience of the space is enhanced by the sound of a 1200mm sheer descent waterfall.

Laidlaw & Laidlaw Design developed the natural landscaping with drought-tolerant plants including feature cacti, which helps to give the outdoor space a relaxed, laid-back feel.

Good Soil and Water commenced its operations ten years ago with the backing of Good Constructions, an experienced construction company with more than 20 years of building experience.

The company was recognised for its excellence at the 2012 Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia (SPASA Australia) National Pool & Spa of the Year Awards, taking out gold in the Residential Concrete Pools (Traditional or Geometric) $50,000–$100,000 category.

Good Soil and Water works throughout Melbourne’s south-eastern and bayside suburbs, as well as along the Mornington Peninsula.

Project 2

Contrasting elements make this pool a striking centrepiece in the courtyard of this newly renovated home.

goodsoiloldThe homeowners wanted a pool that would be distinctive but also functional and low-maintenance for their young family. Cos design provided a fully integrated landscape and pool layout to complement the architecture of the house. Bordered by a decked alfresco area, the courtyard boasts ample space for entertainment, relaxation and summer enjoyment for the children. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows fold back into the wall cavities, opening up the interior living spaces to the courtyard and pool.

A round spa shines with black mosaic glass tiles, rising out of the pool to create a stunning feature. overflowing water forms a serene reflective pool, and a floating concrete platform surrounds the spa, seamlessly merging into a sculptural concrete seat. Bluestone coping and paving work alongside the timber decking and concrete to frame the pool and complete this contemporary design.

Good soil and Water sprouted onto the pool scene ten years ago, with the backing of good Constructions, a well- established construction company with more than 20 years of building experience. specialising in premium concrete pools in the Melbourne metropolitan, bayside and Mornington Peninsula areas, good soil and Water focuses on quality, building 12–15 pools each year.

The dedicated team has the ability to execute entire projects, from landscaping to pool construction, eliminating the need for clients to liaise with multiple contractors. This process ensures cohesion and harmony between the home and the pool.

The company is proud to be recognised by its peers for its quality workmanship, having received a number of accolades at the swimming Pool and spa Association of Australia (sPAsA) awards. in 2012, good soil and Water was the recipient of the sPAsA national gold Award for best concrete pool under $100,000.
