RECLAIMING NATURE

The latest project from KlayCon Landscape Construction is a stunning example of thoughtful sustainability and a testament to the team’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities. The space began as an overgrown, non-functional backyard cluttered with bricks. The earth floor was unevenly levelled, and the space was affected by the roots and shadows of a large Eucalyptus Nicholli tree. The brief from the client was simple – transform the backyard into an open and welcoming space for relaxation, play and entertainment, while managing its natural challenges.

To meet this, KlayCon Landscape Construction embraced the site’s natural contours by designing Corten steel retaining walls that handled the levels elegantly while doubling as planters to introduce lush greenery. The original bricks were upcycled creatively to form a curved bench seat and steps, adding character and sustainability. The team incorporated a deck with built-in seating and a BBQ area to encourage outdoor entertainment, alongside a sandpit and lawn for play. The Eucalyptus tree influenced the lawn choice, with the intelligent selection of shade-tolerant ground covers. The result is a design that forefronts informal, open spaces that accentuate the natural landscape, making it uniquely inviting and practical. .
