Goldfish Pools & Landscapes Project 2

Designed by Digby Roberts, this family orientated swimming pool and spa needed to incorporate a wide beach/offset with steps to the pool to blend seamlessly into one body of water. This was achieved by easy entry and exit zones, while allowing others to sit and relax in the water providing ample poolside lounging.

The design brief required a pool, spa and outdoor entertaining spaces linked visually to the house and negotiated the raised level to the rear adjoining property. Particular attention was paid in the design process to achieve the most out of the limited space available to the clients brief.

The landscape includes sawn bluestone paving, large decking timbers have been used for the surrounding deck area orientated for lounging by the pool, and honed bluestone clad garden bed retaining wall to incorporate a stainless steel ‘Sheer Descent’ waterfall central to the pool.

A smartly designed BBQ and outdoor dining area, with painted cement sheet screen and vertical wood stained batten cladding to the boundary lines, and accompanying planting. Stackstone clad piers/columns strategically placed to inhibit view of the pool filtration (located down the side of the house), from inside the pool area were built to comply with pool fencing safety regulations, adjoin the frameless glass pool fence that seems so discreet, like its not there, thus not interfering with the sophisticated look of the design and assists with the total integration of the house, pool and landscape. Also included is an outdoor shower that sits in close proximity to the house.

Complementing the paving and decking, the reinforced concrete pool and spa has been completely tiled with ceramic mosaic tiles. Casting an inviting colour throughout the water, the serene shade of the dark blue tiles, coupled with the Sunbather solar heating, ensures this poolside always beckons you for a swim. Thoughtful garden lighting illuminates the entire project, bringing an added element to the property and landscape, allowing full use of the area both day and night. The design and construction has transformed this property, creating great joy for the owners and there young children.
