The Pool Place Project 2

Working in the front yard of this Melbourne home, The Pool Place was faced with a challenge. How could it create an open, luxurious space that is also private and secluded? Working in conjunction with The Pool Place, COS Designs responded by designing a truly spectacular, negative-edge pool.

The simple colour palette and sparkling glass mosaic tiles perfectly complement the exterior of the home, without competing with the complex structural design.

The tiered effect of the pool, spa and pond prevent the space from feeling cluttered, while providing enough room for the homeowners to lounge by their new pool. The front of the pool has an acrylic window, which has a surprising effect, while the negative edges over two sides of the pool complete the modern aesthetic.

With much of the pool and spa exposed, 19 supporting piers were required to prevent movement. This ensures the structures will not slide forward, which would spell disaster.

Central to the homeowners’ wishes was a pool that functions hydraulically and requires minimal maintenance.

The Pool Place achieved this by integrating Cooke Industries’ in-floor cleaning system and water levellers with solar and Viron 450 heating systems from Supreme Heating. These products ensure the pool is easy to clean and even easier to enjoy.
