The clean lines of the pool featured make it ooze elegance and class. It seamlessly ties in with the existing home, and is the centrepiece of this outdoor space’s entertaining area – exactly what the homeowners requested.

The homeowners’ brief was to modernise their backyard. As they’re a retired couple they now do a lot of entertaining, and they wanted a pool which was low maintenance and which was family friendly for their grandchildren. They also requested a backyard which would tie in with the existing home.

This was achieved through many unique design features. An umbrella holder was incorporated into the top step of the pool, so that their grandchildren can swim and be outside without getting too much sun exposure. The landscaping created a fully functional entertaining area, and a backdrop of a retaining wall holds a beautiful garden area. To top it off, the pool uses an in-floor cleaning system and a self-cleaning VX7 salt chlorinator for less maintenance and more enjoyment.

The 8.5m x 3.75m concrete pool is fully tiled in Coulson blue tiles, and is centrally located within the entertaining area for practicality and ease of use. A water feature is positioned at the north end of pool, and it has a stainless steel spillway into the pool to increase aesthetics. A beautiful open pergola and surrounding paving was also incorporated to connect the home and outdoor space.

Paul Bangay designed the swimming pool and landscaping, and Salt Pools & Landscapes completed the construction of each component. Throughout the whole process Salt Pools & Landscapes kept in contact with the designer to ensure their vision and the clients’ vision was on track and met expectations. The homeowners chose them for this reason, and knew they could manage and build the entire project.

Salt Pools & Landscapes is a partnership between Richard Workman and Wayne Daly. Richard has been in the industry for over 20 years, building in-ground concrete pools and spas for some of Melbourne’s leading pool companies, and he is experienced in all areas of pool construction. He is a qualified licensed builder of swimming pools with the Building Commission of Victoria.

Wayne also has over 20 years’ experience in the industry. He has successfully run his own business for the past 12 years and has worked extensively with some of Australia’s elite landscape designers. Together, Richard and Wayne decided to combine their businesses to design, coordinate and create backyards with wow factor.

Today, Salt Pools & Landscapes specialise in concrete swimming pools and spas. They predominately work in the Toorak and Malvern areas; however they do work all around Melbourne.
