This show-stopping in-ground pool and outdoor area was cleverly constructed by Salt Pools, following a magnificent design brief by homeowner and design architect Billy Kavellaris of Kavellaris Urban Design. A great deal of coordination was involved to create a seamless transition between the pool and house’s unique design, but the complexities of the project paid off, resulting in a space that is more a piece of art than a pool.

Upon entering the multi-level backyard through wide glass doors, the viewer is greeted by an ample entertaining area with modest yet effective landscaping, with leafy green bamboo forming a lush privacy screen against the fence. Concrete steps lead down to the main attraction – the beautiful pool.

Ocean-blue Coulson tiles in the wading area contrast with the white section of tiles in the deeper end. The asymmetric contrast continues over to the pool surrounds, where there is additional room for entertaining and leisure. The design choice is subtle yet makes such an eye-catching statement, especially when viewed from the top level.

Overlooking the pool is a breathtaking mural of Greek gods Poseidon and Odysseus, displayed on the rear second-story wall in a splash of colour. As the two featured Greek gods are of the sea, this artwork aptly and thematically ties in with the pool, whilst representing Kavellaris’ Greek heritage for a personal touch. Salt Pools have truly created a worthy space to sit back and appreciate this spectacular artwork.
