Yarrabee & Castlemaine Stone Project 12

This project showcases highly unique stone that features visible fossils embedded throughout. These natural details combine with the warm base tones and subtle grey speckles to create a finish that is both visually striking and timeless in its appeal. The stone is also a subtle nod to history through the creative archaeological detailing. 

Yarrabee & Castlemaine leaned into materiality with this build. The selected stone became the hero—its warmth anchoring the space, while the fossil detailing added narrative and depth. Instead of over-designing, the team let the material speak, keeping the layout intentional and restrained so the natural character could take centre stage.   

The planting scheme was designed to feel integrated rather than applied—using layered, textural greenery to soften edges, blur boundaries, and tie the built elements back into the surrounding landscape. Together, the combination of stone, timber, and planting creates a cohesive environment that feels grounded, immersive, and effortlessly connected to nature.
