Yarrabee & Castlemaine Stone Solutions – Project 5
Set in stone – lasting natural materials
For the past 40 years, Yarrabee & Castlemaine Stone Solutions has been delivering high-quality stone products to hundreds of satisfied clients Victoria-wide. As one of the state’s leading suppliers, Yarrabee & Castlemaine Stone Solutions offers a stunning variety of natural stone paving, walling and flooring to suit any project.
The company owns and operates the original Castlemaine Slate and Stone Quarry in central Victoria and has specialised in this unique and iconic stone since 1953. Yarrabee & Castlemaine Stone Solutions also supplies a range of limestone, sandstone, bluestone, granite, porphyry stone and quartz from quarries all over the world.
This exception pool and its landscaped surrounds were designed by Lily Sabo of Sabo Design, Landscape Architects based in Elsternwick. Set beautifully into the natural surroundings, this freeform pool has been enhanced by the addition of natural elements including ‘Castlemaine Random Stone Paving’ and timber decking. Adding to the design’s earthy charm, the same rustic timber frames the glass pool barrier and forms a vertical palisade fence along the boundary line.
‘Castlemaine Random paving’ takes centre stage in this stunning outdoor space, forming the steps and ledges, as well as the waterline tile. Organic-shaped Castlemaine stone ‘steppers’ add another earthy aspect to the picture, harmonising with the space’s rustic atmosphere.
The pool itself was constructed by Aquadreamz Luxury Swimming Pools, who’s expert team cover most Melbourne suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula. The fantastic workmanship and superb attention to detail from Michael Stephenson and his team at Formed Landscapes finished this exquisite design. Perfectly aligned rounded timber elements and beautifully jointed ‘Castlemaine Random Paving’ give this project the feeling of quality that it so richly deserves.
‘Castlemaine Random Paving’ is sourced from the original Castlemaine & Stone Quarry in Central Victoria – one of only a few local quarries still producing. This iconic stone has been mined since 1953 and has truly stood the test of time. With its slip resistant and salt tolerant properties, this unique stone is ideally suited to use around pools where these factors are so critical.
