If there was ever a company to run smoothly, executing effective operations under strong management, Hayward Pool Products is it, taking home Gold for the Operational Excellence Western Australia Award and even becoming a National Finalist for its operations at the 2021 SPASA Australia Awards of Excellence. We speak with district sales manager Rob Hinchliffe, and the woman behind the win, Dorothy Chau, Perth branch customer service and technical manager.
After her nomination and subsequent win, Chau says, “I’m not one who necessarily enjoys being singled out but I am proud to have been recognised by my peers in the industry for the hard work I put into my role.” Chau has been with Hayward Pool Products since its early days in WA as the district technical manager in East Perth, over time moving up the ranks to become the head of the Perth branch’s technical management. Hinchliffe describes Chau as a “truly humble individual who’s much
more interested in the support of her co-workers and encouraging their accolades than necessarily pursuing her own”, one of the key factors influencing the senior management team’s decision to nominate her. “Operation by definition suggests a function of activity or being in effect,” he adds, “[and] the activity in our Hayward branch would be nothing without Dorothy’s leadership, positivity and lead-byexample approach to hard work.”
