HIGHLY COMMENDED WINNER OF BEST RESIDENTIAL CONCRETE POOL UNDER $100,000 AWARD AT THE 2020 SPASAVIC AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
Having taken home three Gold wins, a National Silver award and two high commendations in past award seasons, Icon Pools had another successful year at the 2020 SPASAVIC Awards of Excellence with its Highly Commended win of the Best Residential Concrete Pool Under $100,000 Award. Josh Considine, managing director of Icon Pools, talks to us about the winning pool, and why it was such a standout among judges.
A fresh, unique and modern take on the above-ground pool, this creation features “granite cladding and a three-metre-wide acrylic window, giving those outside the pool a glimpse of the turquoise water”. As Considine explains: “It’s an elegant use of acrylic and tone, with the granite and water colour meshing beautifully.” With special
thanks to Inspired Landscapes, who completed the complementary pool surrounds, Icon Pools deemed this pool worthy for the awards. “It’s always good to put your own work up against the best in the business and see who comes out on top” and that winning is “one key indicator that we must be doing something right,” the managing director explains.
Icon Pools was founded in 2014 with a “strong architectural focus but also a family-based approach” to pool building. The company produces beautiful designer concrete pools that complement the homes they belong to, along with the ever-changing seasons in Melbourne.
