Best Water Feature

Neptune Swimming Pools was awarded Gold for the SPASA Best Water Feature.

“Our client was a builder who wanted a pool that [would make] a statement and create a ‘wow’ factor for their new split-level home. Our challenge was to integrate the home’s upper and lower levels while making the small internal courtyard feel expansive.

“The pool was designed to sit on the higher level, with stone cladding disguising its external walls from the lower level. These walls were designed to comply with pool-barrier regulations, which helped to create the open space [that] our client sought.

“A three-sided infinity edge was added to [provide] a perfect vista from all angles. Guests [who are] arriving at the glass front door are greeted with a view across the reflective pool, with water spilling over the cladding and into a hidden gutter below. As they enter the main living area, the granite water wall wraps around the pool and extends towards the deck.

“Grey tones were chosen to create a peaceful and still reflection [on the] pool when [it’s] not being used. To achieve this, we combined the flamed granite cladding with blended ‘Midnight’ glass render and black-glass mosaic waterline tiles. To ensure the pool remains good-looking, the walls were membraned both internally and externally, [which will] prevent efflorescence staining. All joins were caulked to allow for [the] expansion of the individual granite tiles, [while] a marine-grade stainless steel grate conceals the gutter [that feeds] the main balance tank.

“The resulting design is visually stunning when viewed from all angles, and certainly adds value to this beautiful new home.”
