Good Soil and Water Project 3
On the surface, this L-shaped lap pool by Good Soil and Water appears simple, however on closer inspection you’ll see a perfectly pieced-together puzzle. Starting as a plunge pool, it beautifully winds around the home to provide a practical space for swimming laps. Designed by Venn Architects as part of the new home, this pool had no margin for error, as it had to be constructed around the basement. In addition, the house cantilevers over the pool to sit flush with the finished form. Every tiny detail had to be carefully considered and set in place before building could commence. The exquisite design also encompasses a full-sized tennis court and large deck, creating a fully integrated outdoor living solution.
The owners requested a low-maintenance pool that would suit their busy family lifestyle and meet their evolving needs as their young children grow. Almost taking care of itself, the pool features a Pentair sand filter and variable-speed pump, solar heating and a Chemigen chlorinator. Functionality aside, the pool is a stunning water feature that can be admired from the outdoor entertaining area and multiple rooms within the home.
The striking bluestone paving ties in seamlessly with the home’s exterior cladding, while the feature timber deck completes the pool area. A cleverly positioned bluestone plinth disguises the Remco pool cover without compromising the visual appeal of the coping.
Good Soil and Water sprouted onto the pool scene more than twelve years ago with the backing of Good Constructions, a well-established construction company with more than 20 years of building experience. Specialising in premium concrete pools in the Melbourne metropolitan, Bayside and Mornington Peninsula areas, Good Soil and Water focusses on quality, building 15–20 pools each year.
The dedicated team has the ability to execute entire projects, from landscaping to pool construction, minimising the need for clients to liaise with multiple contractors. This process ensures cohesion and harmony between the home and the pool.
The company is proud to be recognised by its peers for its quality workmanship, having received a number of accolades from the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia (SPASA Australia). In 2016, Good Soil and Water was the recipient of a Gold Award for Best Concrete Pool under $100,000.
