Melbourne’s iconic MCG was alight on the evening of July 7th as winners of the 2018 Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Victoria (SPASA Victoria) Awards of Excellence were announced. With more than 440 industry stakeholders in attendance, the Awards of Excellence Gala night held its place as one of Australia’s largest and most anticipated industry events on the Victorian calendar.
A total of 43 categories made up the 2018 SPASA Victoria Awards of Excellence program. The major Remco Pool of the Year title was awarded to Aloha Pools, while the equally prestigious Product of the Year accolade was awarded to Supreme Heating for its Heatseeker DualSun solar electricity and pool heating system.
With comedian and former Winter Olympic goldmedallist Steven Bradbury hosting, guests were treated to pure hilarity and genuine on-stage entertainment. total of 70 Gold and Highly Commended awards were presented to well-deserving local businesses. “This year’s record number of award entrants again demonstrates excellence across the board and proves that SPASA Victoria members are true leaders within the national industry,” said SPASA Victoria CEO Brendan Watkins. “With award-entry numbers up 25 per cent on last year, it is clear there’s healthy competition among our most passionate and talented members.
“The Victorian pool and spa association represents a very mature industry which has evolved over the past 60 years to become truly world-class,” Watkins continued. “The innovation and sheer ‘wow factor’ present in Victorian backyards exceeds much of what is celebrated in Europe and America. There’s never been a better time to invest in a pool or spa.”
SPASA Victoria President Cliff Cooke also congratulated all winners. “The quality of what our members produce just never ceases to amaze,” he said. “They continue to explore ways to push the boundaries of possibility, and another record event shows the passion our members have in the pursuit of excellence. Being early adopters of new technology, SPASA Victoria members sit on the cutting edge – and consumers are the ultimate winners.”
With sumptuous food prepared by renowned caterer Epicure, images of all award entries prominently displayed up in lights on the MCG scoreboards, and video footage on the ‘around-the-ground’ LED Ribbons, a fabulous night was enjoyed by all. The gold winners from all categories went on to compete in the national SPASA Australia Awards of Excellence on August 2nd 2018.
